Hospice Care of Lowcountry Bluffton, SC

Hospice Care of the Lowcountry WHV Level Three partner had a beautiful ceremony for one of their WWII Veterans, Mr. Dwight Blakeslee. To find out more about the ceremony and Mr. Dwight’s accomplishments click here!

Hospice Care of the Lowcountry (HCL), a level-three We Honor Veterans Partner, hosted a ceremony honoring one of their WWII Veterans. The Veteran, Mr. Dwight W. Blakeslee served on the LST 491 and was in Normandy on D-Day. “The fireworks display (this weekend) is nothing compared to the fireworks display on D-Day,” stated Dwight. Many members from his church and community attended this event. Dwight received a We Honor Veterans pin, from four JROTC cadets from the Lowcountry’s Bluffton High School. In addition to a red, white blue blanket made from the local church’s prayer group, a booklet containing information about his life and a DVD from Honor Flight Savannah. HCL Veteran Volunteer Col. Mack McGahee also presented Mr. Blakeslee with the We Honor Veterans Certificate! Mr. McGahee then proceeded to give an informational PowerPoint about World War Two, a custom he has acquired for every ceremony honoring a Veteran patient. After the presentation, everyone at the ceremony, including Dwight, was lead into singing “God Bless America”. Dwight sang with emotion and vigor! HCL was proud to honor their Veteran patient. Learn more about the ceremony! 

Regional Hospice and Home Care Danbury, CT

Sonoran Winds Hospice, Buena Park CA: Level One Partner

Sonoran Winds Hospice has recently honored another brave Veteran under their care with the We Honor Veterans certificate.

McGuire VA Palliative Care Unit, Richmond VA

Bon Secours employees and Veterans Beverly Van Tull and William Barrett, render a salute to World War II Veteran James Johnson at the McGuire VA Palliative Care unit during his pinning ceremony. During the ceremony, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, a certificate awarded, and a pin placed on the chest of the Veteran.

Mesilla Valley Hospice, Las Cruces NM: Level Four Partner 

Mesilla Valley Hospice honored Veterans by holding a special Memorial Day Service in the Chapel of La Posada. They created a poppy field in their Veterans garden and even assembled a Battlefield Cross with original war items.

Honoring a Military Officer’s Life and Unlikely Love Story Amedisys Hospice, Pawleys Island: Level Two Partner

Volunteer Coordinator Kelli Jayroe was touched by Staff Sargent Stephen Shaffer ‘s story of military service as well as his love for his wife Sally.  Read about Kelli’s special tribute to Stephen and Sally’s story. 

Homestead Hospice, Warner Robins, GA: Level Two Partner

Homestead Hospice of Central GA honored three World War II Veterans and one Korean War Veteran at Robins Air Force Base. Read more about this special day.

The Call to Serve

Hospice Visions, Inc., Twin Falls, ID: Level Three Partner

Senator Crapo August Visit

During an August recess visit with Hospice Visions, Inc., Senator Crapo recognized Veterans from three Genesis Health Care Facilities. These Veterans were honored with a certificate from the Senator as he read their names, branch of service and war in which they served. Community Partners Dignity Memorial and Genesis Health Care participated in the pinning ceremony.
