Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day 2021 with St. Francis Reflections

A story from our Hospice Partner

St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care, Titusville, FL

Submitted by Christine Tate, St. Francis Reflections

St Francis Reflections Lifestage Care was honored to partner with the Veteran Memorial Center in Merritt Island, Florida, for the Vietnam War Veterans Day Ceremony on March 29, 2021. Vietnam Veteran Lt Col Skip Taylor presided over the ceremony and shared his experience in the Vietnam War. There were 90 individuals in attendance as Lt Col Taylor pinned 9 Vietnam Veterans with the 50th Vietnam Commemorative pin and 2 Vietnam Veterans Spouses with the 50th Vietnam Spouse Commemorative pin. One of the spouses in attendance was a Vietnams Veteran’s wife, and she was surprised by their children to receive the honors on behalf of her recently deceased husband for his service. All honorees received certificates of appreciation from St Francis Reflections by Lt Col Taylor.

The Rolling Thunder performed a Missing Man Table Ceremony to honor all the men and women considered MIA or POW during the Vietnam War. Rolling Thunder is a nonprofit advocacy group that seeks to bring full accountability for prisoners of war (POWs) and missing in action (MIA) service members of all U.S. wars.
