Caris Healthcare in Cookeville honored Korean War Veteran

A story from our Hospice Partner

Caris Healthcare, Cookeville, Cookeville, TN

Submitted by Volunteer Coordinator Tracy Chamberland

Mr. Allen sits in a wheelchair holding his Korean War Peace Medal. Caris Healthcare staff and volunteers stand behind him.

Caris Healthcare honors a patient’s TMIT (three most important things); one of Caris’s patients’ TMIT is his military career and serving in the Korean War. It came to the Caris Volunteer Coordinator’s attention that the Korean War Ambassador was awarded the Korean War Peace Medal.

Knowing his military career meant a lot to him, Volunteer Coordinator Tracy Chamberland gathered the information needed and applied for the medal.

Mr. Allen was awarded the medal at a surprise ceremony attended by family, friends, Caris Veteran Volunteer Jimmie Loftis, and VSO Mark Harris.
