St. Elizabeth Hospice Host’s Annual Veteran Appreciation Luncheon

A story from our Hospice Partner

Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood, KY

The Annual Veteran Appreciation Luncheon was held on November 7 at SETEC. Since 2016, the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program has sponsored this event, which provides a unique opportunity to honor veterans both within our organization and in our community. 275 guests attended this year, with over 40 St. Elizabeth associates volunteering for this event. Many community organizations such as the Kentucky Patriot Guard Riders, Kenton County Jr. ROTC, Young Marines, Honor Flight Tristate, Northern Kentucky University, DAV, the Covington Catholic Chamber Choir, also participated. This free program featured speakers from veteran-centric organizations, mail call, a resource fair, complimentary lunch and musical performances. Each veteran was honored with a personalized certificate of recognition and pin on behalf of the We Honor Veterans and St. Elizabeth Hospice Programs.

This year, St. Elizabeth created the first ever Veteran Associate Award. St. Elizabeth Healthcare Associates were encouraged to nominate their fellow veteran colleagues. The winner was selected based on the breadth and depth of their nomination and its relevance to our event theme, which was common bonds of service. Our inaugural Veteran Associate Award winner for 2022 is Tamura Godfrey, an Air Force veteran and Registered Cardiovascular Sonographer at St. Elizabeth Grant Hospital! Tamura was recognized by her colleagues as a servant leader who volunteers her time to recognize veterans.

The St. Elizabeth Hospice Program is privileged to recognize not just our Hospice veterans and their families, but also veterans in our community.
