This presentation will provide some history and context to Vietnam-era Veterans and insight into what makes this population unique. Trauma-informed care will be defined and symptomology of traumatic stress as manifested in a veteran population discussed to give an overview of avenues for care-planning with this population and your organization.

Cheryl Johnston (MSW, LSW, ACHP-SW, US Army Veteran @Nathan Adelson Hospice)
Ms. Johnston joined Nathan Adelson Hospice in 2012, initially as a student, and then as a medical social worker after completing her two-year practicum at the agency and currently leads the internal We Honor Veterans program. Ms. Johnston is a full-time lecturer for the UNLV School of Social Work and is currently a Doctoral Candidate at North Central University seeking a doctorate in Psychology with a specialization in Trauma and Disaster Response. Her focus in education is the end of life care for marginalized populations such as veterans and members of the LGBTQ population.
