VA Webinar: Final Hours from the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium For Veterans Curriculum

This live, knowledge-based webinar will focus on the last hours of life and period of transition to death for our patients. How to recognize that death is imminent will be described, including symptoms that are common at this stage of life. Suggestions for how the nurse and interdisciplinary team can support Veterans’ families at the time of death and, in some cases, through a “death vigil” will be given. Key components of after-death care will be shared, including how to sensitively support the family during this time. Cultural and spiritual considerations during final hours of life and at the time of death will also be discussed. This program will help bridge the knowledge gap with what is known about after death care and introduce new concepts for treating after death care as a whole family concept. This training is appropriate for healthcare teams.
