Center on Holocaust Survivor Care Webinar: End-of-Life Care for Older Adults with a History of Trauma and their Family Caregivers

November 16, 2022 @ 2:00 pm 3:15 pm EST

The JFNA Center on Holocaust Survivor Care and Institute on Aging and Trauma invites you to participate in the webinar, End-of-Life Care for Older Adults with a History of Trauma and their Family Caregivers: Trauma-Informed Approaches and Empowerment Strategies. This webinar will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 2:00pm – 3:15pm EST. Continuing education credit hours are available for this webinar.

This webinar will focus on the topic of end-of-life care and how to incorporate person-centered, trauma-informed (PCTI) principles into end-of-life care. PCTI care is a holistic approach to service provision developed by the JFNA Center on Holocaust Survivor Care and Institute on Aging and Trauma that infuses knowledge about trauma into agency programs and procedures to promote the well-being and empowerment of trauma survivors. 90% of older adults have a history of trauma, and end-of-life care can be retraumatizing, both for older adults and for their family caregivers. By the end of this webinar, participants will:

  • Learn person-centered, trauma-informed methods for discussing end-of-life preparation with older adults with a history of trauma and their family caregivers that will ultimately empower families as they manage end-of-life decisions
  • Learn what is entailed in the process for assisting older adults and family caregivers with end-of-life logistics and legal documents
  • Hear how family caregivers can empower older adults with a history of trauma when they are preparing end-of-life-related decisions
