Improving Access to High-Quality Mental Health Care for Veterans Workshop

April 20, 2023 @ 9:00 am April 21, 2023 @ 4:30 pm EDT

Workshop Background

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will hold a 1.5 day hybrid (virtual and in-person) public workshop on Improving Access to High-Quality Mental Health Care for Veterans on April 20 and April 21 2023 to explore the current landscape for mental health care services in the United States, including the use of telehealth services.

The workshop will consider ways to improve veterans’ timely access to high-quality care for mental health conditions. In particular, the workshop will consider internal and external best practices for three critical needs for mental health access (known as tripartite access in the VA): urgent/crisis access, engagement access, and sustained access.

Vaccination Requirements: Effective as of January 23, 2023

All visitors to National Academies facilities — including volunteers, Academy members, invited guests, fellows, sponsors, presenters, vendors, contractors, consultants, temporary workers, and other non-staff — must be up to date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 per CDC guidance. Visitors must show their official COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (or a digital photo of the card) to the security staff when they enter the facility.
