Specific Needs

Issues resulting from trauma may present themselves at the end of life and need indivudualized care.

Care for Veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD is more common among Veterans than the general population, due in part to increased exposure to hazardous and stressful situations.

Military Sexual Trauma

About 1 in 5 women and 1 in 100 men seen in VA facilities respond “yes” when screened for military sexual trauma. MST can negatively impact a person’s mental and physical health, even many years removed from the event(s).

Soul Injury and Veterans

We Honor Veterans and Opus Peace have We Honor Veterans is proud to maintain a collaborative partnership with Opus Peace. Through this partnership, WHV and Opus Peace have worked together improve WHV partners capacity to provide care and healing to Veterans that are suffering from soul injuries.

Substance Use Disorder and Veterans

. The 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health found that 14 percent of all U.S. Veterans reported having at least one substance use disorder in the previous year. Ninety-six percent of those Veterans did not think they needed treatment.

Trauma-Informed Care for Vietnam-era and Combat Veterans

We Honor Veterans and the the Veterans Health Administration have created information to engage hospices in delivering quality end of life care for Vietnam-era and combat Veterans and those that have been impacted by trauma.
